Vineyard Designate Pinot Noir & Chardonnay. Since 1984, Byron is committed to crafting site-specific Pinot Noir & Chardonnay from distinctive vineyards in the Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills appellations. Byron winemaking takes place in the vineyard. Beginning with winter pruning through fall harvest, winemaker, Jonathan Nagy, tends to specific rows within each block determined to produce textured wines of balance representative of their vineyard site. The Santa Maria Valley AVA is influenced by a lingering morning marine layer while Sta. Rita Hills is cooled by gentle afternoon coastal wind. Vineyard sites are selected based upon clonal selections appropriately paired to the soil, microclimate, exposure, and topography within each AVA.
