Located on a southwest facing hillside between 900’ and 1400’ feet at the confluence of where the Petaluma Gap collides with Sonoma Mountain, Sun Chase is one of the most highly sought-after vineyards in the Petaluma Gap. Its climate is heavily influenced by cool ocean breezes, but it sits above the fog line for a nice balance of heat stress on the grapevines, allowing for slow and even maturation of the fruit.
In the early morning, blankets of fog often cover the plain below the vineyard; all the while the sun warms the slopes of the vineyard as the sun “chases the fog away” through the afternoon. Then, the late afternoon gives way to the cool winds coming through the gap, creating an exceptional environment for cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
