Mansfield-Dunne Wines is the culmination of a 10 year effort of John and Lynn Peterson to secure land in the Santa Lucia Highlands with the goal to grow premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes and produce wine from them. We are committed to producing small quantities of artisan crafted wine from meticulously farmed, Estate Grown grapes. We have long been Pinot Noir and Chardonnay lovers and (John at least) long harbored the goal of developing a vineyard and label focused on these varietals. After discovering the Santa Lucia Highlands area in 2001 and meeting winemaker Ed Kurtzman and a couple of the local growers, we were impressed with the potential of the appellation and quickly concluded this was the place to focus our dream project. As friends of Ed Kurtzman and big fans of his wines, we were very happy that he was willing to join us in this journey. Ed is extremely familiar with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, and we knew our grapes would be in the best of hands. We have been producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from our family owned Peterson Vineyard since the 2010 vintage. Starting with the 2016 vintage we have also been producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah from our newly planted Cortada Alta Vineyard. The new vineyard is the highest elevation property in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation.
