Gary Pisoni evoked a passion for wine and revolutionized how people percieved Pinot Noir in the Santa Lucia Highlands and California. His 1982 planting in the unlikely terrain of his mountain vineyard was abound with firsts, hurdles and naysayers—until he planted his proprietary selection of Pinot Noir, discovered water and began producing world-renown Pinot Noir.
The Pisoni family now farms and makes wine from three vineyards in the appellation: Pisoni, Garys’ and Soberanes Vineyards. Wines are bottled under the Pisoni Estate, Lucia and Lucy wine labels. Operating the estate today are brothers Mark and Jeff Pisoni. Mark is the vineyard manager and oversees the meticulous care of the vines. Jeff is the winemaker and crafts distinctive wines that represent this place and vision. Together, they continue the multi-generational family enterprise.
